Having studied at Central Saint Martins and Kingston University, Wong has developed a distinctive practice that draws from her cultural roots while embracing a modern global perspective.

Deeply inspired by the traditions she grew up with, her Malaysian heritage, and the beauty found in everyday life, Wong’s work celebrates the richness of Malaysian artistry and craft. Through her collections, she reinterprets traditional techniques, materials, and cultural narratives for a contemporary audience, creating pieces that honour the past while feeling relevant to the present.

At the core of Wong’s creative approach is a desire to preserve and elevate the craftsmanship that has shaped generations of makers. By bringing elements of Malaysian culture into an international context, she creates a dialogue between tradition and innovation, translating familiar references into refined and modern forms. In 2026, Wong presented her debut collection in Malaysia, marking a significant personal and professional milestone. Created in association with Bakhache, the 20-look collection paid homage to her roots and celebrated the artistry, traditions, and craftsmanship that continue to inspire her work. Through her practice, Phoebe Wong continues to champion Malaysian creativity on an international stage, fostering new appreciation for the country's rich cultural heritage through contemporary design.
